Allergan Botox Sales Up This Quarter
Though most industries are still suffering economic woes, the cosmetic industry appears to be whistling a different tune.
Allergan Inc., the makers of Botox, saw second-quarter profit increases of nearly 20 percent (up $295.4 million or 96 cents per share) mostly thanks to their top selling product – Botox. Botox sales alone, which are split almost evenly between cosmetic and medical uses rose 10%.
“I think we can say the consumer is alive and well,” said David E.I. Pyott, Allergan’s chief executive.
Worldwide sales growth for Allergan’s breast implants are also up by about 14 percent this year according to Pyott. It appears that Allergan implants sales profited from the PIP faulty implant scare across Europe this past December because many women sought implant replacements with Allergan.
“The market doesn’t seem to have taken a hit, despite what one would think would be negative perceptions,” Pyott said.

If you were to tell someone you were getting Botox injections, most people would just assume you were going in for an anti-wrinkle treatment. Though Botox is most frequently used to diminish the appearance of frown lines, and forehead wrinkles, it also has several other potential uses.
