First Robotic Hair Transplant System Available at Sadick Dermatology
Are you noticing signs of hair loss or thinning? You’re not alone! Statistics show tens of millions of men and women experience significant and noticeable hair loss, a condition that can affect adults of any age. There are lots of causes of hair loss, including genetics, environmental factors, hormonal changes, stress and medical treatments, but no matter what the underlying cause, if you’re experiencing hair loss, learning how to treat the condition and replace your lost hair is probably pretty high on your list of priorities. That’s because hair loss can have a profound effect on self-esteem and self-confidence, and reversing the effects of hair loss can help you feel better about yourself and the way you look.
At Sadick Dermatology, we’re thrilled to offer our patients the most advanced, state-of-the-art treatments for hair loss, including the Artas robotic hair transplant system. The Artas system is the first robotic system designed for hair transplant procedures, using a scientifically-advanced approach to carefully harvest individual hairs identified as being ideal for hair transplant, and it does it without leaving the linear scarring typical of many transplant procedures. Here’s what you need to know to help you decide if Artas is right for you:
- Before the procedure, you’ll need to have your hair cut short to make it easier for the Artas to identify the optimum hairs for harvest and transplant. If you normally wear your hair longer and want to keep your transplant confidential, you may want to plan to cut your hair short in stages to avoid a drastic change in appearance. In most patients, the hair is harvested at the back of the head where it is least noticeable, and hair typically regrows to its pre-procedure length in just a couple of weeks – sometimes less.
- Most sessions take the better part of the day to complete, so you may want to bring a book or electronic device to keep you relaxed and entertained during breaks in the procedure. During the procedure itself, you’ll be seated and a local anesthetic will be used to numb the transplant area and reduce or eliminate any potential discomfort. The Artas technique is highly targeted and minimally invasive, which means you won’t have to worry about stitches or scarring.
- Following the procedure, you will receive instructions regarding how to care for your hair and scalp in the days immediately after your treatment, as well as information about sleeping and physical activity to avoid discomfort and prevent transplant loss. Also any creams, lotions, shampoos or medications you may use will be discussed. While most patients report very little to no discomfort after their procedure, any minor discomfort or tenderness can be treated using over-the-counter pain medications.
