Lipotherme is a laser lipolysis device made by Osyris that uses heat generated by a laser to melt fat so it can be permanently removed from the body. Skin exposed to Lipotherme's laser energy may also experience skin tightening effects, as collagen production is stimulated by the laser.
Lipotherme Indications
Lipotherme is an ideal fat reduction solution for patients wishing to get rid of localized areas of stubborn fat deposits almost anywhere on the body, including the face, neck, upper arms, back, flanks, belly, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees and ankles.
To be a candidate for Lipotherme, patients must be in generally good health and not significantly overweight (more than 25 lbs.) Additionally, it is recommended that patients who seek Lipotherme or any liposuction procedure maintain a healthy diet and regular exercise regimen to ensure fat deposits will not reappear elsewhere on the body after liposuction surgery.
The Lipotherme Procedure
Lipotherme is similar to Smooth Lipo and Slim Lipo in that it uses a 980nm laser wavelength to liquefy fat cells prior to removing them via suction with a small tube called a cannula. The entire procedure typically takes two to three hours if two to three body areas, or fat zones, are targeted, and local anesthesia may be used.
Lipotherme may also be combined with tumescent liposuction or other modalities depending on what your surgeon determines will work best for you.
Lipotherme Recovery
There is virtually no downtime with Lipotherme, and many patients return to work and normal daily activity within a few days of the procedure. However, for those whose jobs require vigorous physical activity, several days to a week off of work may be necessary after Lipotherme.
Lipotherme is minimally invasive, and as such, causes very little post-operative swelling, bruising and discomfort. Most of these side effects are minimal and resolve within a few days to a few weeks after treatment. To ensure optimal Lipotherme results are achieved, you may need to wear a compression bandage following the procedure for a length of time to be determined by your unique needs.
Final Lipotherme results are typically visible within several months, however treating several areas or removing larger volumes of fat may prolong the period of time needed to see your final results.
