Endovenous Laser Treatment - EVLT

Endovenous Laser Treatment, commonly known as EVLT, addresses bulging, painful varicose veins in the legs that are not only unsightly but can also cause poor circulation and health problems if left untreated.

The EVLT Procedure

During the EVLT procedure, a thin laser fiber is inserted into the vein near the knee and guided through the vessel with ultrasound.  The fiber then delivers laser energy to the problematic varicose vein, collapsing it and diverting blood flow to other veins nearby that work properly.  The procedure is well tolerated by patients.

The Sadick Research Group recently published that two years post procedure, patients experienced a varicose recurrence rate of less than 7 percent, making EVLT the most effective treatment for those with significant venous insufficiencies.

EVLT Recovery & Complications

During the EVLT recovery period, patients are encouraged to resume normal daily activities and walk to keep blood flowing in the legs.  There is no scarring and temporary treatment side effects typically clear up within a few days to a week.

Ablation of leg veins using EVLT is significantly less invasive than traditional vein surgery and has a lower complication rate.  However, like any surgical procedure, EVLT carries some risk of potential complications, such as temporary phlebitis (redness and tenderness of the treated area), as well as temporary bruising and numbness.

Deep vein thrombosis is a rare but possible side effect that can be avoided by wearing a compression stocking following leg vein laser treatment.  To avoid other rare and potentially serious side effects, seek an vein treatment expert for your EVLT procedure.

EVLT for Hand Rejuvenation

Endovenous Laser Treatment for the Hands (EVLH) is a new and innovative approach to hand rejuvenation. This treatment addresses bulging, nobby veins in the hands.

Ablation of the vein by EVLH is significantly less invasive than surgery and has a lower complication rate. A thin laser fiber is inserted into the vein on the hand. The procedure is well tolerated by patients and produces excellent cosmetic results.
