ArteFill is a long-lasting dermal filler made with smooth polymethyl-methacrylate microspheres suspended in bovine collagen. Of all the dermal fillers on the market in the U.S., ArteFill provides the most enduring results.
By injecting ArteFill beneath the skin, we can reduce the appearance of conditions such as:
- Nasolabial folds
- Glabellar frown lines
- Radial upper lip lines
- Marionette lines (mouth corners)
What to Expect During ArteFill Injection
Before injection, topical anesthetic or local anesthesia can be administered to improve comfort. Using a syringe with a half-inch long needle, the filler is injected by your dermatologist using a special technique.
After injection, your dermatologist uses his or her fingertip to evenly massage the treated area.
After Your Treatment With ArteFill
Although the correction can be seen immediately, your body will break down the injected collagen over one to three months. Your body will naturally replace the collagen for an enduring result. Minor swelling can occur after ArteFill injection, which typically lasts for 12 to 24 hours. There may also be some pink coloration near the injection site(s) for two to five days.
Possible ArteFill Side Effects
Possible side effects include rash and itching lasting more than 48 hours, persistent swelling or redness, and increased sensitivity at the injection site(s). Lumps and granulomas are two other rare potential side effects, which can be treated by your dermatologist.
